Phase 1: Reflect on Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge
Jenny: I feel that my knowledge of technology is a little less than average. I do have experience with navigating the internet. I do search websites for information/lessons to use at school, and incorporate what I find with the students that I work with. I also have a limited experience with ipods. I do not always have the time or take the time to explore all of the facets of technology. I work in two general education classrooms, where the teachers use the smartbaords on a daily basis. I jump between the two classes to work with my students, so I do not know how to fully navigate the smartboard. I do have experience in powerpoint and excel. I have searched websites to develop lessons for the students to complete. There is much more technology out there that I would like to learn how to utilize, but I need the time to learn. My knowledge of pedagogy continues to evolve as I learn more with experience. I am a Special Education Teacher, so I work with students who have special needs, such as autism, learning disabilities, behavior issues, and attention problems, etc. I feel that I adapt pretty well to the needs of the students in the classroom. I also feel that I learn as behaviors and issues arise through my years of experience. My content knowledge is average, and also continues to increase with my experience. I plan lessons with my co-teachers, so I modify and adapt assignments as needed for the students.
Jodee: I believe my knowledge of technology is average. I am able to use several different types of computer applications. I explore the internet, use it to edit and store photos, and look for educational ideas. In my classroom I use the smartboard with my students to access online games that reinforce the lesson, as well as, some simple lessons that I made to be used on the smartboard. I teach three-five year old children in a low socio-economic community so many times I am simple exposing my students to the computer. I feel that my knowledege of pedagogy is always expanding. I hope that I continue to learn along with my students and that I keep current with changing trends and styles. I believe that I am knowledgeable in my content area, but I also continue to want to learn and grow with the changes. I feel like my weakest link would be the technology area, but hopefully I will be expanding that knowledge. I am unsure about tying these three areas together, but I'm sure that I will learn
