To enhance student learning the class will be utilizing technology daily. They will be using the computers and accessing the internet, as well as, using the Smartboard daily. Students will also be using a digital camera and making their own slide show with the pictures they take. The students will be actively involved in their own learning. This weeks lesson will resemble the project based learning approach. The students should be actively engaged and eager to learn about the letter of the week. Activities this week can be done in both large and small group and independent work can also be accomplished in groups or individually.
This weeks lesson will help the children learn the letter Ff. The children need to be aware of both the capital and lower case letters and should be able to recognize and name them by the end of the week. With the activities planned throughout the week the children should be able to learn this letter. The students have no prior knowledge of the letters so these activities will make the learning fun and exciting. We want students to be able to recognize and name the letter of the week without getting frustrated with repetitive lessons.
Using a technology based method will provide opportunities for hands on learning projects that will have long term impact with students and allows a fun way to learn these skills. Visual and interactive activities will also be beneficial. We know that it will be time consuming to prepare the lesson, but it will be well worth it for student learning. The students will be using kinesthetic activities by using fine motor skills to trace letters on the white board.
