Phase 1: Reflect on Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge
Jenny: I feel that my knowledge of technology is a little less than average. I do have experience with navigating the internet. I do search websites for information/lessons to use at school, and incorporate what I find with the students that I work with. I also have a limited experience with ipods. I do not always have the time or take the time to explore all of the facets of technology. I work in two general education classrooms, where the teachers use the smartbaords on a daily basis. I jump between the two classes to work with my students, so I do not know how to fully navigate the smartboard. I do have experience in powerpoint and excel. I have searched websites to develop lessons for the students to complete. There is much more technology out there that I would like to learn how to utilize, but I need the time to learn. My knowledge of pedagogy continues to evolve as I learn more with experience. I am a Special Education Teacher, so I work with students who have special needs, such as autism, learning disabilities, behavior issues, and attention problems, etc. I feel that I adapt pretty well to the needs of the students in the classroom. I also feel that I learn as behaviors and issues arise through my years of experience. My content knowledge is average, and also continues to increase with my experience. I plan lessons with my co-teachers, so I modify and adapt assignments as needed for the students.

This weeks lesson will help the children learn the letter Ff. The children need to be aware of both the capital and lower case letters and should be able to recognize and name them by the end of the week. With the activities planned throughout the week the children should be able to learn this letter. The students have no prior knowledge of the letters so these activities will make the learning fun and exciting. We want students to be able to recognize and name the letter of the week without getting frustrated with repetitive lessons.
Using a technology based method will provide opportunities for hands on learning projects that will have long term impact with students and allows a fun way to learn these skills. Visual and interactive activities will also be beneficial. We know that it will be time consuming to prepare the lesson, but it will be well worth it for student learning. The students will be using kinesthetic activities by using fine motor skills to trace letters on the white board.
